MESA (Mutual Education Support and Advocacy)

Support and education workshops for family members of persons with serious mental illness.  The focus is on learning about specific mental illness, their symptoms, and treatment options, and on self care for the family member.  Sessions usually meet for an hour and a half weekly for twelve weeks.

Don't see a group that meets your needs? Call us with your suggestions and we will do our best to either find a group or form a group for you.

Most groups meet at Mental Health America of Central VA at 2316 Atherholt Rd., Ste. 206 . Dates and times will vary. Currently, there is no fee to attend any group. Voluntary donations to help offset the costs of copying, materials, and refreshments, are graciously accepted and appreciated.

All groups related to mental health and mental illness are offered as needed. If you are in need of support but do not see an appropriate group listed above, please give us a call. If enough interest is expressed, we will start a group.
