Mental Retardation Glossary Case Management: Activities that identify, link, coordinate and ensure that services are delivered to persons with mental retardation. Developmental Disabilities: Refers to severe and chronic disability, which is a mental or physical impairment; a combination of a mental and physical impairment; manifested before age twenty-two (22), likely to continue indefinitely, results in substantial limitations in three (3) or more of life’s major activities (i.e. selfcare, language, mobility, self direction, independent living, employment). Family Training and Support: Refers to a program of in-home respite, behavior analysis, counseling, and housekeeping services for families. Mental Retardation: Refers to significantly subaverage general intellectual functioning, existing concurrently with deficits in adaptive behavior and manifested during the developmental period. Residential/Housing Services: Refers to supervised apartments, small group homes, supported living arrangements, rent subsidy and small Intermediate Care Facility for Mentally Retarded Programs (ICF/MR). |
